ABOUT ME
Erika L. Chan is an illustrator, caricature and portrait artist. Her art career began at the Disneyland Resort in 2002, where she spent many years drawing faces of thousands of enthusiastic travelers wanting to capture their Disney moment. For the last decade, she has called the Outer Sunset home. Residing a couple blocks from the beach and Golden Gate Park, much of her inspiration and motivation is driven by the presence of these natural spaces. Taking advantage of the sights and community in her neighborhood, she recently joined a group of urban artists named Sunset Sketchers.
During the Pandemic, she transitioned from full-time dog walker to full-time freelance artist. Having been in the dog care industry for over eight years, she has built a strong following in the community. A great portion of Erika’s work is commissioned art. You can find her drawing caricatures at dog parties and customizing watercolor portraits.
Donating original watercolor pieces to raise funds for animal conservation and participating at one of the city’s biggest pet rescue events, as a caricature artist, are at the core of Erika’s work. Some of the non-profits dear to her heart are the San Francisco Zoo, Ventana Wildlife Society, Artists for Painted Dogs, and Draw for Paws. Erika’s hope is that her artwork brings joy, laughter and heart, as well as awareness of vulnerable species, local and afar.
