PETCO GRAND OPENING (LIVERMORE, CA) DECEMBER 15, 2011

As I have found my niche here in San Francisco at Petco, I had the opportunity to be part of the Grand Opening celebration of the new Livermore Petco store with my General Manager! It was great finally meeting other managers within the company and really feeling part of the team. I offered complimentary caricature sketches to our customers, (of their humans and dogs)! Some great faces and adorable dogs! And as a Petco dog trainer, I had the opportunity to speak to new puppy owners about the importance of training, proper puppy development and nutrition.

First Annual Petco Harvest Festival a success!

San Francisco Sloat Blvd. Petco hosted it's First Annual Harvest Festival on the weekend of October 22-23! As a new Petco Dog Trainer and Associate, I had the opportunity to bring my caricature experience to a new venue with pet lovers here in San Francisco. I got to draw wonderful families, and the cutest dogs and cats all day...and really got to know some of the frequent shoppers and their pets who live here in the community.

Children cheered and screamed during the Hamster Ball Derby outside, people enjoyed free snow cones, popcorn, candy and face painting. My managers and coworkers were busy with all of the customers packed in the store, excited to enter the drawings for some awesome Petco prizes like free grooms, free dog training, small animal kits, etc. (jealous!)

Mickey Mouse Penthouse Gig! 1/ 29/11

I had the opportunity to do a caricature gig in the Mickey Mouse Penthouse at the Disneyland Hotel for Miss Jaime's birthday bash! It was my first time to actually see this mysterious spot. A must-see for Mickey lovers! Great people, great faces, and great chats with fellow film crew peeps...even got tipped a pack of 21 Jump Street trading cards! Haha! Thank you Kevin Pollack and Emily Goodwin for having me!

Erika Chan and Crystal Webb were featured live sketch artists for the Red Carpet Premier of the National Geographic "Great Migrations" film at the Saban Theater in Beverly Hills. Special VIP guests in attendance were offered complimentary original watercolor sketches of migrating animals highlighted in the documentary.

Bow-Wow & Meows Pet Fair (Santa Clarita, CA) 10-10-10!!!

This was Animal Portraits by Erika's first time at the 10th Annual Bow Wows & Meows show! What fun being surrounded by all sorts of dogs, cats and their human pets! There was a line all day for cheap Advantage shots and so many great vendors! And 154 dogs and cats were adopted out in five hours! Props to Yvonne Allbee, the Founder of Bow Wows & Meows for organizing such a great cause! I debuted my newest prints and original watercolors (Labrador, Chihuahua, Giant Poodle, English Bulldog, Mini Pinscher, Tabby Cat, and Belgian Tervuren). THANK YOU to those that visited my booth, took advantage of my 50% off sale and for signing my mailing list!

LOS ANGELES ZOO's 40th ANNUAL BEASTLY BALL! (6/19/10)

I determined to have "The Invited" (a diptych set painted in acrylic on wood) complete just in time for the 40th Annual Beastly Ball, honoring Betty White and her efforts over the decades working with the Los Angeles Zoo. As one of the biggest fundraisers at the zoo, these two paintings went for silent auction ($1,000 value), with a theme celebrating the awaited arrival of the new Elephants of Asia exhibit (opening December 16, 2010). I had the opportunity to attend the exclusive event as one of the hard-working volunteers amongst the crowd of fellow donors, employees, animal enthusiasts, city officials, caterers, bartenders, and television faces that contributed to raising the $1,205,000 to benefit the Zoo. The zoo was transformed into a fair of guests mingling, sampling foods and beverages from all sorts of delicious restaurants, while checking out all the fun auction items. I enjoyed the worldly steel drum/xylophone ensemble while being amused by bizarre costumed characters...and discovering the small animals that made up the night's "Mini Zoo" (armadillos, snakes and my favorite, the Hawaiian Owl). After watching Betty White on the recent SNL, I was excited to see her being honored at the event for all of her years dedicating her efforts to the LA Zoo. It was great to be part of the cause!
